  • I have this fantasy that I will use this blog as a means of communication. Not very personal, of course. But, it would be nice if I gave a way for my dear friends back “home” to keep up with what is going on with my life, and it would also be nice if I read the posts of said friends once in a while.

In this respect, I have behaved like a jerk. I’m sorry.

As for what is going on, lots of things. I’m currently running the video part of the service that the congregation has started for late high school-college aged folks. In fact, I’m writing this on the old iMac that we have in the coffee shop area that my wife is managing. It is a lot of fun, but it does take up a lot of time.

I was sick with a stomach virus last weekend. Ended up with burst capillaries around my eyes from the violent purging. Then I spent too much time in the couch, and I finally had to go to the urgent care center to get a doctor to look at my neck. Massive muscle spasms, making my left arm go numb. They gave me an anti-inflammatory and a muscle relaxer. Once we go home, I’m popping some of those babies in my mouth and passing out. Hopefully I’ll be able to sleep tonight.

I currently have no plan to go back to hockey. I figure I might miss it eventually, but I’m glad to not have that obligation anymore. It wasn’t any fun the last few sessions, and getting intensely angry one night a week wasn’t healthy. But, I managed to get hurt less playing hockey than I have sitting in the couch…

I really need to upgrade this machine. It’s still running OS 9, which means that no software is available for it. Which means I’m stuck with this cruddy version of Internet Explorer which doesn’t even scroll correctly with a text box.

Anyway, I wanted to post. I don’t have time to post very often, but I’ll try to be better about it.

  • last night i began my hockey hiatus. the last couple sessions it has been a struggle to justify playing hockey for various reasons (time, expense, level of enjoyment), so i decided to take a break for at least a session, probably a few. it will be good.

  • drove to IN this weekend to go to my 10-year high school reunion. about 20 students came. it was an enjoyable time.

  • hockey update: we are still undefeated for the session. i went hard into the boards last night. hit my head and my shoulder. helmet padded the head, but a simple nylon jersey doesn’t provide much protection. at least i have a full range of motion.

  • finally took the imac to the apple store in denver. they’re going to replace the mainboard. ought to fix it. can’t be much that isn’t on the mainboard.

and, for those of you who follow business news, no, i have not been laid off.

  • Looks like we’ll be in IN for about a week. We arrive on the 4th and
come back to CO on the 11th. Hopefully I’ll get to see some of you guys
    then.

Sorry that I never post to this thing, that I’m never on the instant
messenger, that I never reply to email, etc. I get to use a computer
for personal reasons for about 15 minutes a week. I happen to be
running tests right now, so I had some time to point out that I am
    alive.

One of the biggest events of my life occured this last Friday – I was
able to see Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan on the big screen for the
    first time.

  • so i had this crazy idea last night for a graphic novel where a group of children have an adventure in “Englishland” where they face unfathomable enemies such as the “ambiguous phrase monster”. They’d have to watch their steps as they walked through “trailing preposition” forest so they don’t trip on misplaced modifiers. In the end, they’d face the most nefarious of all creatures, the “split infinitive” dragon.

maybe i should just stick to software development.

(twice in a day?! better stock up on canned food and bottled water!)

  • twice in a week?! insane.

last night i doubled my “career” scoring record by getting two goals in one game. it was quite a game. we won 11-3. we celebrated by getting ice cream.

  • i’m alive.

    and i’m in northwest indiana.

  • time for my monthly update
