  • Atlanta Christmas

We’re heading back to IN after spending a day down in GA. I hadn’t
seen any of the folks on my Mom’s side if the family in a year and a
half (maybe I saw some of them around Christmas last year, but they
didn’t make it to GA), so it was a good time.

  • Stuck in traffic

We’re heading down to Atlanta to visit some of my Mom’s side of the
family. You want to know we could tell when we hit Kentucky? Because
    all progress stopped! HA!

  • School’s out

    School’s out for winter!

I emailed my paper tonight. That means I’m done for the semester. It looks like the research project that I did is going to turn into my thesis work. That will be cool. It was a fun project, and it will be fun to finish it.

We’ll be in Indiana for about two weeks. The week of Christmas is completely off. I’ll be working days the week after that, but I would love to see some old friends while we’re out that way.

  • Empty mailbox!

For the first time in 4 years, my mailbox is essentially empty.

There is one message in it, and it is something to which I must reply.

This is an accomplishment, worthy of a post.

  • Test-Driven Development?

We’ve been thinking about moving Mrs. H’s email off of Comcast. So we set up the new account, and are facing the problem of how to handle mail being sent to the old address. Well, we decided that it would work well to set up a filter that would copy email sent to the old address into the new mailbox and send an email reply. We get the new rule to work with one mail. For some reason I bring the rule editor back up to look at something. This time, on my way out, when I’m asked if I want to apply the rule to open mailboxes, I select “Yes”…

I was reminded of the need to test before putting something into production.

To everyone that got 1-100 messages talking about a new email address, I’m sorry.

  • Learning Java

What have I been up to? Learning Java. I haven’t written any Java in 8 years. This semester I need to write several projects in Java, using things like RMI and EJB. I’m getting there.

In other news, I need to play StarCraft more often if I’m going to bother at all.

  • Posting

I told Barry that for every day he didn’t shave, I would post.

    So, there you have it.

  • School

Started school last Tuesday. I’m taking two classes. One class is on software product and process measurement and testing. The other is a generic seminar class for CS graduate students.

That’s about it. Oh yeah, and I shredded up a bush last weekend. This weekend I get to pull the stumps out of the ground. Ya-hoo.

  • Grad School

I decided to go to grad school. I’ll start working on my MS in Computer Science on August 21. I’m going to Colorado State University here in Fort Collins. I figure it’s going to take about 4 years.

Now to get that student ID so I can pay less at the movies…
