  • NaBloPoMo Day 30

Well, this is the end of National Blog Posting Month. It’s been fun. Maybe I’ll keep using this thing. We’ll have to see.

I spent time this afternoon reading my hermeneutics book. It’s ok. I also took a nap because I only got about 5 hours of sleep last night, so I’m quite fatigued and have a rather strong headache. Got for supper, read another chapter, and now I’m going to bed. Hopefully I’ll be able to get up a bit early and get more of this book read.

  • NaBloPoMo Day 29 (45 minutes late)

Slept in today. Was functional at noon. So, I got back to reading. When I was hungry and was microwave-baking a potato, I ran some water in the kitchen sink and was concerned when I heard what sounded like draining water. So, I looked, and I noticed that I hadn’t taped the connection going to the sprayer when I put in the new faucet back in June(? July?), so I figured that was leaking. I went ahead and ate my lunch and got to fixing the faucet.

I was really convinced that the connection to the sprayer was the problem when I found that the nut was not at all tight. So I went ahead and taped it up and connected it, figuring I’d be done. But, when I turned on the faucet, I saw water draining down the feed lines. So, I figured I’d better take apart the faucet.

Long story short, I ended up taking off the faucet, taking it apart entirely, only to find no problems with any of the washers. Then I wondered how the feed lines were attached, so I looked. Well, I found that the sprayer line was not even finger tight. So, I pulled it off, checked it, and put it on nice and tight. Put every thing back together and after four hours I was done.

Before the thing broke, I realized that I was reading my book at about 10 pages an hour. Like I said, slow read. So, once the faucet broke, I decided that I’d switch to one the easier and shorter books for the purpose of my report. So, now I’m reading “How to Read the Bible for All Its Worth”. So far, it is definitely reading faster, but it is nowhere near as interesting. However, I have to get the report done so I can move on to the real papers that I still have left *plus* get to reviewing my Greek for the exam that is next week.

Just two more weeks to the semester. Hooray! Then I get SIX(!) weeks off, and I don’t even have to work for two of those! Hooray!

  • NaBloPoMo Day 28 (24.5 hours late)

I mostly read on Friday. It’s a fascinating book called “First Theology: God, Scripture and Hermeneutics”. The chapter I read on Friday was about how the doctrine of the Trinity affects how Christians engage in discussions on theologies of religion. The conclusion of the author, to paraphrase probably very badly, is that God’s actions in narrative reveal to us a God who is defined by character, not by attributes (like perfect, all-powerful, etc.) Those attributes apply, but to start from them (like people pursuing a pluralistic theology of religion) renders a dull, impersonal God much different from the God who makes and keep covenant. God’s revelation of Himself within the biblical narrative then defines a character who is distinct and therefore incompatible from the boring pluralistic god.

Fun stuff, but a very slow read.

  • NaBloPoMo Day 27 (14 hours late)

Thanksgiving was wonderful. We didn’t get home till ~11. It was a great time with friends that we don’t get to see much anymore.

After that, we came home, ate some more ice cream, and watched “Amok Time.” Amok. Time. Truly awesome Trek.

Da dunh DUNH DUNH DUNH DUNH DUNH da dunh dunh da dunh!

  • NaBloPoMo Day 26

Were you waiting on a BlackBerry Storm? After reading “BlackBerry Storm Downgraded to a Depression”, I think you may have been wasting your time. Key quotes:

    • “’I couldn’t send two e-mails on this thing,’ said one disappointed veteran.”
    • When talking about the keyboard: “to type ‘get,’ you press the GH, ER and TY keys. Unfortunately, that’s also ‘hey.’ You can see the problem.”
    • “I haven’t found a soul who tried this machine who wasn’t appalled, baffled or both.”

Sounds like the iPhone is still the best.

Speaking of which, I still need to download Google earth. Street View is pretty cool, by the way, but I was disappointed to see that there seems to be no Street View data for Northwest Indiana.

  • NaBloPoMo Day 25

Here it is, folks. According to the US Treasury Secretary, the future of the economy depends on consumers going into debt:

“This lack of affordable consumer credit undermines consumer spending and, as a result, weakens our economy,” said Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson at a press conference.

I’m pulling that quote from http://money.cnn.com/2008/11/25/news/economy/paulson_consumer/?postversion=2008112514

So, go rack up more than the average $9000 per person credit card debt. What is wrong with us?

  • NaBloPoMo Day 24

Made some progress at work. Fried a turkey and it was delicious. Much better than the one a week.5 ago. Then it was watch “Space Seed” and “A Taste of Armageddon.” Some good Trek.

    Off to bed.

  • NaBloPoMo Day 23

Today was a day off, mostly. Church this morning, then a refreshing lunch followed by some Christmas talk which ended when I could no longer stay awake. Then it was downstairs to watch to Star Trek, followed by dinner, and then some hanging out.

I’m still quite exhausted. Looking forward to going to bed soon. But first I’m going to update the software on the iPhone to 2.2 so I get Street View.

  • NaBloPoMo Day 22 (1 hour late)

It seems like everything is late this week. Homework. Blog posts. Going to bed.

I like the sound of that last one.

  • NaBloPoMo Day 21 (One day late)

I finally finished that book. Now I just need to crank out the report. After that, it’s drive down to school spend some quality time in the library getting some research done so I can work on the two other major papers that I have left this semester.
